BEHAVIOURAL MAPPING

INFO

YEAR: 2021

SITE: CAMBRIDGE, ON

STATUS: CASE STUDY

As a tool to re-iamgine the domenstic space, the case study tests the potential of Kit of Part systems in adaptive use.

USM is a commercial-off-the-shelf (COT) system consisting of connection nodes, framing bars and steel sheets. The modern modular furniture is designed in a way the user can creatively alter and build new configurations according to their spatial needs. Such flexible spatial solutions may be presented in a form of a table, open/closed storage, a desk and a partition built using USM. Using the record of spatial qualities observed from the analysis, such needs can be established to imrpove user experience.

The BEFORE and AFTER drawings were produced to compare the spatial improvements made by implementing the USM kit system as a tool of spatial retrofit; how we adapt to the changes, and how changes in human behaviour may follow.
